Photo Caption:

Ignoring warnings about the rough surf, the party of four from the wireless station on Tatoosh enlisted assistant keeper Forrest Cowan to pilot their surfboat from the island out to the tug Lorne so they could go to Neah Bay to visit friends. Ira D. Spoonemore and George L. Talmadge, who were rescued by keeper Cowan and his crew, were taken aboard the tug and on to Neah Bay to be treated. They both made full recoveries.
