Designed by famed engineer and Civil War General George Meade, the 160-foot-tall Sombrero Key Lighthouse was first lighted in 1858. Automated in 1963, the Fresnel lens that was once in the lantern is now on display at the Key West Lighthouse Museum in Key West, Florida.
