Our cover photo this issue features Jeff Pence, a member of the Westport-South Beach Historical Society, dressed in a period lighthouse keeper’s uniform, ceremoniously cleaning the lens in the lantern of the Grays Harbor Lighthouse in Westport, Washington. The lighthouse, celebrating its 120th birthday this year, was first lighted on June 30, 1898. In 2004, the ownership of the lighthouse was lighthouse was transferred from the federal government to the Westport-South Beach Historical Society.
