This large shield of the U.S. Light House Service was once the fence at Fort Point Lighthouse. The wood carving was made by Terry Cole who was the lighthouse keeper at Fort Point Lighthouse from 1973 to 1976. It is no longer there, having been removed due to weather and age, and is now inside the lighthouse tower. (2001 photo by Timothy Harrison, editor of Lighthouse Digest.)
