Robert D. Dunno, Sr., who pulled his fellow Coast Guard keeper from the grasp of Lake Superior in 1960, is shown here with his son Robert Jr. and baby Richard. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 22 years. After he retired from the Coast Guard, he attended and graduated from the University of Texas with a BA in Science and went to work in Alaska. Born in San Antonio, Texas on November 18, 1936, he passed away on December 16, 2003. It was reported at the time that he would be buried at sea from the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mustang.
