Photo Caption:

This 1920 view of Tillamook Rock Lighthouse shows how little free space was on the Rock other than the lighthouse and landing platform with the derrick. It’s amazing that Robert Gerlof never wanted to go on his rotational leave except to attend to things like dentist appointments. He said he went on average only once every 15 months.
