Photo Caption:
The Point Conception Lighthouse Station near Lompoc, California as it appeared when Antonio Souza was stationed there from 1900 to 1907. You will notice that the curtains in the lantern were drawn to protect the 1st order Fresnel lens from the harmful rays of the sun. In 2013, the lens was removed from the lantern and put on display at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum in Santa Barbara, California. (Lighthouse Digest archives.) Back to the edition of: Mar/Apr 2018
