Kenneth H. Dickerson, Sr., shown here in his U.S. Lighthouse Service uniform, served as the 1st assistant keeper at Hooper Island Lighthouse from 1936 to 1944. It is believed that this is the only lighthouse he ever served at. He later served as a radioman in the Merchant Marine. He died in 1965. (Photo courtesy Dawn Taylor.)
