Notes:
At the end of August every year, the festivities of the Romería Montañesa del Faro (Pilgrimage to the Lighthouse) are celebrated around this lighthouse. Prisoners were thrown from the cliffs here to their deaths during the Spanish Civil War, and there is a monument commemorating this near the lighthouse.

Description of Tower: Round stone tower, lower part octagonal; built on keeper's dwelling; lantern roof painted green.

Directions:
The lighthouse is located in the Parque de Cabo Mayor on the Avenida del Faro in Santander. The grounds around the lighthouse are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The lighthouse is open only by prior arrangement.
