Notes:
Since the 1970s ice has pushed against the lighthouse and caused it to tilt; the structure now has about a 20 degree list. In 1996 the Coast Guard announced plans to destroy the structure, but public complaints and opposition from the Maryland Historical Trust stopped that action. In 2008 the government sold the lighthouse at auction for $80,000. The new owner has been identified only as AFB, Inc. of Bear, Del. The lighthouse is on the Lighthouse Digest Doomsday List.
