Notes: This lighthouse, the tallest in Britain, was designed by Alan Stevenson, uncle of author Robert Louis Stevenson. It took 150 men seven years to build the tower. A fire gutted the lighthouse in 1954. Tower Height: 158 Height of Focal Plane: 150 Characteristic and Range: Flashing white every 10 seconds, visible for 23 nautical miles.
