William J. Kelly (1900-1962) served as a lighthouse keeper at the Old Plantation Flats in Virginia from 1918 to 1921; Janes Point Lighthouse in Maryland from 1921 to 1930; Hooper Strait Lighthouse in Maryland from 1930 to 1939; and the Sharkfin Shoal Lighthouse in Maryland from 1939 to 1945. Of those, only Hooper Strait Lighthouse remains standing today, having been saved and moved to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michael, Maryland. In 2004 a replica of the Old Plantation Flats Lighthouse was built in Cape Charles, Virginia.
