This is by far one the best first-hand accounts of life at lighthouses, outside of the United States, that I have ever read. I could not put it down. Born at a clifftop lighthouse in 1910, Archie MacEachern’s life was spent in the world of lighthouses. He was one of the third generation of his family in the service of the Northern Lighthouse Board. Written in his own words from wartime, to peacetime, to change, as seen through this man’s keen eyes, you will meet people and situations, from a lifetime of service that offers a revealing glimpse into the close-knit world of lighthouse tending that could often be fraught with danger, as well as humor. There has never been enough published on Hudson River Lighthouses. Barnegat Light
This book is more about the community of Barnegat Light, New Jersey than it is about the actual Barnegat Lighthouse.
