Haunted Ships and Lighthouses
From ghostly ships that sail long after their physical forms are gone, to phantom lighthouse keepers who continue a vigil, the numerous short stories in this book by David Weatherly and Ross Allen will make you start to wonder what is real and what is not. Archie’s Lights: The Life and Times of a Scottish Lightkeeper
This is by far one the best first-hand accounts of life at lighthouses, outside of the United States, that I have ever read. I could not put it down. Born at a clifftop lighthouse in 1910, Archie MacEachern’s life was spent in the world of lighthouses. He was one of the third generation of his family in the service of the Northern Lighthouse Board. Written in his own words from wartime, to peacetime, to change, as seen through this man’s keen eyes, you will meet people and situations, from a lifetime of service that offers a revealing glimpse into the close-knit world of lighthouse tending that could often be fraught with danger, as well as humor. Printed on heavy duty glossy paper, the book is loaded with historic photos, some that are truly amazing. And to bring you into the modern era, color photos are also included. This soft cover book with 188 pages is available from www.whittlespublishing.com.

Hudson River Lighthouses
There has never been enough published on Hudson River Lighthouses. Although this book helps fill that void, there is so much more that could have been included on some of the lost and forgotten lighthouses to make the history more complete. But this book does include a tremendous amount of information and photos that have not been read about or seen before by most people. The photos and memories of family life will be enjoyed by everyone who reads this book. However, it also tells of the hardships and dangers faced by the keepers and their families. The photos are priceless. This book should be in every home library. Part of the Images of America series, Hudson River Lighthouses is a soft cover book with 128 pages. It is available from Lighthouse Digest as item #3509 for $21.99 plus shipping online at www.LighthouseDigest.com or by mail at P.O. Box 250, East Machias, ME 04630. You can also call 207-259-2121.

Point No Point
Lighthouse aficionados will easily recognize the title of this book as the name of a lighthouse in Washington State. But the book is not just about the lighthouse; it also provides a concise history of the area known as Point No Point from its earliest days to today. The many rare historical images will keep you captivated as you follow author Richard Walker’s journey through time. But lighthouse lovers should not be concerned; there is plenty of lighthouse history with historic images to make you want to read and have this book in your collection. The book is part of the Images of America series that we all know so well that have captured and saved the history of so many of our nation’s lighthouses. The book is available as Item #3508 for $21.99 plus shipping from Lighthouse Digest, P.O. Box 250, East Machias, ME 04630; call 207-259-2121. or online at www.LighthouseDigest.com

Barnegat Light
This book is more about the community of Barnegat Light, New Jersey than it is about the actual Barnegat Lighthouse. However, because the Barnegat Lighthouse is such a significant part of the community of the same name, any book about the lighthouse would have to include historic photos of the area surrounding the lighthouse. And this book does just that. The wonderful selection of photos used in the book come from 3,000 recently digitized and restored images in the collection of the Barnegat Light Historical Society and Museum and for anyone who loves history, each one is exciting. Most people who visit Barnegat Lighthouse today don’t know of the beautiful, mansion-like keeper’s house that once stood here, or life-saving station, or the epic battle fought to save the abandoned 172-foot tall tower from collapse due to erosion. This book by Reilly Platten Sharp is part of the series of Images of America books by Arcadia Publishing. It is available as item #3510 for $21.99 plus shipping from Lighthouse Digest, P.O. Box 250, East Machias, ME 04630, online www.LighthouseDigest.com or call 207-259-2121.
