Since WQHLKA was founded in 1998, Ron Pesha served at various times as the president and as the secretary of the group. In addition, from 2001 to 2012, he served as the president of the Lubec Historical Society in Lubec, Maine.

When the West Quoddy Visitors Center and Museum was created, officials estimated the cost would be $223,000, but Ron Pesha was instrumental in doing the project for $7,000.

In a ceremony, held on May 28, 2014, in the Visitors Center at the lighthouse, the exhibit area was named The Ron Pesha Lighthouse History Museum. Ron, who was at the ceremony was humbled by the event and thanked all those who made it possible.

Ron Pesha, who was a retired journalism professor, said it was important to use his retirement years in giving back, which he certainly did. He also authored two books, Remembering Lubec, and The Great Gold Swindle of Lubec, Maine.

In 2014 he and his wife moved to Vermont to be closer to their son in their aging years.

Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
