Longtime Lighthouse Digest subscriber Mike Oliviere, who has been collecting antique lighthouse related post cards for 25 years, recently discovered and added this very old real-photo post card to his collection. At one time it was not uncommon for some people to make their own real-photo post cards, but one of a lighthouse keeper is extremely rare and we have never seen one like it before.

However, there is no information on the card about who this person is or even where the post card was made. As indicated by the letter “K” on his jacket lapel, he was a head lighthouse keeper; otherwise it would have had a number “1” for first assistant keeper or “2” for second assistant keeper. However, the band on his hat with the words Light House Service is unusual and rarely seen in old photographs on the hats of lighthouse keepers.

Perhaps one of our readers might know who this man is. If anyone can help to identify this man, please contact us by mail, phone, or e-mail at Lighthouse Digest, P.O. Box 250, East Machias, ME 04630, Phone (207)259-2121 or Editor@LighthouseDigest.com.
