Rondout Creek Lighthouse, located at the mouth of Rondout Creek on the Hudson River in Kingston, New York, celebrated its 100th Birthday this year.
However, some lighthouse purists might differ with the 100th birthday being celebrated this year, because the foundation stone placed on the lighthouse says USLHS 1913. However, 1913 is the year that construction of the lighthouse began. It was finally completed and lit in 1915, which technically makes 2015 the 100th birthday for the lighthouse.
When completed in 1915 the current Rondout Creek Lighthouse structure, replaced an earlier tower that was built in 1867, which in turn had replaced a structure that had been built in 1838.
In honor of the 100th Birthday of the current Rondout Creek Lighthouse we are showing you a number of photos. Because most of our readers will never see the inside of the Rondout Creek Lighthouse we have placed a larger emphasis on the interior photos of the lighthouse that has been restored through the combined efforts of the City of Kingston and the Hudson River Maritime Museum.
