With a release date of November 16th, the new movie, “The Lightkeepers” will be available just in time for Christmas. Filmed on location at Race Point Lighthouse on Cape Cod you can now be among the first to own what is sure to become a classic film, especially among lighthouse aficionados.

Filmed on location on Cape Cod and mostly at Race Point Lighthouse near Provincetown, Massachusetts, this period film takes you back to 1912 in the days of yesteryear when lighthouses were staffed by the United State Lighthouse Service. A few scenes were also filmed at the nearby Chatham Lighthouse.

The story revolves around cantankerous lighthouse keeper Seth Atkins, played by Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfus of “Jaws” fame, who has vowed to swear off women for good and has taken up refuge to being a lighthouse keeper at the remote lighthouse.

Then, a mysterious stranger, played by Tom Wisdom who starred in Pirate Radio, washes up on the beach. Taken in by the lighthouse keeper, the man has a past full of secrets and a similar aversion to females.

But, the arrival of two beautiful and spirited women, played by Mamie Gummer and Emmy and Tony winner Blythe Danner (“Meet the Fockers”), will test the men’s resolve and send the four of them into uncharted waters. In a supporting role, the movie also stars Oscar nominee Bruce Dern.

You may recall that the filming of the movie was given extensive coverage in the September 2009 edition of Lighthouse Digest.
