Unidentified lighthouse keepers pose on the back ...

Compiled and written by Paul St. Germain, who is the president of the Thacher Island Association, this is the first book ever published that, through historic photographs, brings back the checkered history of this historic lighthouse station and the surrounding area.

As well as being packed with amazing photographs that will captivate you, St. Germain vividly recounts the role the twin lighthouses played in three wars and the life, times and hardships of the lighthouse keepers and families who lived at this elaborate light station. The book also recounts the near tragedy of the vessel carrying the President of the United States that nearly wrecked on the island. Another amazing story is about a notorious Mafia informant who was stashed on the island by the federal government and guarded by an array of different federal agencies.

We highly recommend this historically important book that should be in the library of every lighthouse aficionado. Twin Lights of Thacher Island, Cape Ann is available on-line from the publisher at www.ArcadiaPublishing.com or by calling 1-888-313-2665.
