Thunder Bay Crew Restores Eastern Point Light

After spending the winter months breaking ice on the Great Lakes, the crew of the 140-foot Coast Guard Cutter Thunder Bay returned to New England for its summer and fall duties of performing maintenance on lighthouses that are still owned by the Coast Guard.

The refurbished lantern room at Eastern Point ...

Their work included removal of old flaking paint and repairing and painting the tower and replacing siding on the keeper's house that had been damaged from numerous storms. (All photos courtesy of the United States Coast Guard.)
