Since the very first issue of Lighthouse Digest in May of 1992, we have written about the many efforts to save our nation's historic lighthouses.

We've done stories about individual lighthouses about to

be lost, lighthouses that were lost, lighthouses that have been saved, and stories of outstanding individuals who have made

a difference.

However, many of us may not know enough about some of the many different lighthouse groups that are working so diligently to make a difference. So this month, we asked a cross section of different lighthouse groups to tell us in their own words their story of how they got started, what they have done, and what they are doing.

Unfortunately, because of space limitations we can't tell you as much as should be told about these groups, but at least now you will all know a little more about some of them.

We don't pick favorites here at Lighthouse Digest and we support all of these organizations as well as the many others that are not included in this issue.

We encourage you to join and support a lighthouse group in your community or one of the many national or regional organizations that are all working toward the same goal of saving our lighthouses for future generations.
