The visitors to Wis-consin’s popular Wind Point Lighthouse this past August got the thrill of seeing the 108 foot tall beacon receive some much needed care.

The work was part

of a major donation awarded by JELD-WEN, the world’s leading manufacturer of reliable windows and doors. This was not the first project this year for JELD-WEN as they also awarded a donation of their windows to the Thomas Point Lighthouse in Maryland. You may also recall our previous story on the window replacements that JELD-WEN did last year at Umpqua River Lighthouse in Oregon.

JELD-WEN had originally only planned to donate windows to one lighthouse in 2007, but the response to their open application process was so enormous that they decided to assist two lighthouses this year.

JELD-WEN, a Kalmath Falls, Oregon based business, with 150 divisions and more than 20,000 employees nationwide is to be commended for their commitment is helping to save our nation’s historic lighthouses. The lighthouse preservation community owes them a sincere debt of gratitude.
