Members of the Beacons of the Bay, the Chesapeake Bay area Habour Lights Collectors Club recently visited the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse in Lewes, Delaware, where they presented a check to Bob Trapani, President of the Delaware River and Bay Lighthouse Foundation to be used toward the ongoing preservation of the lighthouse.

The group also attended the Transfer of Ownership Ceremony of Thomas Point Lighthouse where they made a donation to the Chesapeake Chapter of the U. S. Lighthouse Society for Thomas Point preservation fund. In doing so, the club became one of the first sponsors and “plank-owners” of the lighthouse.

Earlier this year, the Beacons of the Bay club also contributed to the fund for the replacement engine for the push-boat for the Skipjack Martha Lewis, a historic Chesapeake Bay vessel, which has sailings to view lighthouses.
