The Coast Guard Cutter Bramble whose duty was to remove and replace buoys on the Great Lakes is now a floating museum as part of the Port Huron Museum and is docked at the Seaway Terminal in Port Huron, Michigan. The vessel was commissioned in 1944 and during its career served all over the world. In 1947 the Bramble participated in "Operations Crossroads," the first test of the atomic bombs effect on surface vessels at Bikini Island. Its last tour of duty was on the Great Lakes and it was decommissioned in 2003 and replaced by the Coast Guard Cutter Hollyhock.
