The pin up calendar was the calendar of choice onboard the Ambrose Lightship in 1944. This man was checking off another day before he would get eight days of leave after being on the lightship for 22 straight days. Lightships never went anywhere. They were anchored in one location and not allowed to leave, no matter what the weather conditions, which could off cause the vessel to roll back and forth for days on end.
