Photo Caption:

Vintage post card image of the Twin Lights of Navesink from the era when lighthouse keepers and their families lived at the lighthouse. Interestingly, in 1883, the same year as the pledge to the flag was first read to an adult audience at the Twin Lights of Navesink is also the same year that it became the first lighthouse in the nation to use kerosene as a fuel source.
