The completed Sabine Bank Lighthouse is shown here shortly after it started in operation. It was staffed by a head keeper and three assistant keepers. Because of its location 18 miles off shore, many of the locals referred to it as “The 18-Mile Lighthouse.” (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
