Photo Caption:

The first Nobska Point Lighthouse, completed 1829 at a cost of $2,249.00, was a typical Cape Cod style structure with an octagonal tower that protruded from the roof of the keeper’s house and was topped by a bird-cage style lantern that held a lighting system of ten lamps and reflectors. It stood until 1876 when the current structure replaced it. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
