Front view of the first Point Arguello Lighthouse. It was first lighted on February 22, 1901. Look closely and you’ll see fog siren whistles protruding from the top of the building just below the lantern room. The lighthouse keepers did not live in this structure because the fog signal equipment took up all the space. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
