An upper enclosed room was installed atop Stratford Point Lighthouse as is shown in this photo taken in May of 1945. It may have been installed as a lookout position for use during World War II, and this photo was taken to document it prior to its removal at the end of the war. (Courtesy U.S. Coast Guard.)
