Playing baseball on a rocky island was no easy task, but they always had fun doing it. It is doubtful that very many baseball games in history were ever played on a rock out in the ocean, but with no soil, they had no other choice. Hitting a home run would meant the ball was lost forever, thereby ending the game. However, they generally played with a tennis ball. So, if the ball did get hit into the water, it would float and they could retrieve it. (Shirley Robinson collection, Lighthouse Digest archives.)
