LCDR Ron Caputo, Chief of US Coast Guard Sector Sault Ste. Marie, stated how proud the Coast Guard was to be a part of the transfer, saying that it was good to see the lighthouse being transferred into such capable hands as the partnership represented by Alpena Township and the Thunder Bay Island Lighthouse Preservation Society.
