Artifacts found at Pt. Conception Light Station on display at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. The bottles were found on the south-side cliff below the original location of California’s Point Conception Lighthouse.  Given the steepness of the cliff, Bruce Drugg ventured down only five or six times and retrieved these bottles.  The previous U.S. Coast Guard staff, who Bruce Drugg replaced, is said to have used a fire hose to hold onto for safety as they washed away soil to find old bottles.  The cliff was littered with them! You will learn more about Bruce Drugg in a future edition of Lighthouse Digest.
