Wilfred and Bertha (Phillips) Lewis look like they might have been royalty in this vintage photograph which might have been taken on their wedding day. For a short time, Wilfred Lewis served as the 1st assistant keeper at the Rochester Harbor Beacon Light, from April 1905 until October 1905. He then secured the position as the 1st assistant keeper of the Sodus Pierhead Lighthouse in November of 1905 and held that position until 1917 when he relieved Daniel Phillips, who retired and Lewis was appointed the head keeper, a position he held until he retired in 1939.
