Photo Caption:

Coast Guard lighthouse keeper, Frank Harangozo changes the blub in the 3½ order Fresnel lens at the Gray’s Reef Lighthouse in 1966. The lens has 13,000 candlepower. After automation this lens was removed from the lighthouse and can now be viewed at the Harsha House Museum in Charlevoix, Michigan where it is on permanent display. A modern optic is now in the tower at Gray’s Reef. (2012 MLive and The Grand Rapids Press. All rights reserved. Used with permission of MLive and The Grand Rapids Press.)
