A Coast Guard 44-foot supply boat docks at Gray’s Reef Lighthouse in 1966. Often times because of high winds and heavy seas this supply boat, out of Charlevoix, could not get to the lighthouse on its scheduled visits. The Coastguardsmen rated this vessel as being safe but untrustworthy because of how it rolled and pitched it rolled in bad seas. (2012 MLive and The Grand Rapids Press. All rights reserved.
