Before a keeper’s house was built at Maine’s Saddleback Ledge Lighthouse the keeper’s lived in the tower. Although the tower still stands as a silent sentinel, the keeper’s house and other buildings that were once on the rocky ledge are long gone. (Lighthouse Digest photo by Jody Shook.)
