The U.S. Lighthouse Service lighthouse tender Hyacinth was commissioned in 1902. The 165-foot long vessel was transferred to the U.S. Navy in World War I and returned to the Lighthouse Service at the conclusion of the war. Andrew John Nowland served on the vessel from 1921 to 1926. The Hyacinth was decommissioned in 1945 and sold. By 1957 the vessel had outlived its usefulness and was scrapped.
