Vintage image of the Borden Flats Lighthouse with a new coat of white paint in the days when it was manned by the United States Lighthouse Service. You will notice that part of the lower deck at this time was enclosed. The small boat hanging from the lighthouse was the keeper’s only mode of transportation. Access to the lighthouse was by a small rung ladder leading up from the water to the lower deck. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
