Photo Caption:

The Stratford Point Lighthouse, with its cast iron tower, pictured here in 1884, was built in 1881 at the entrance to Stratford Harbor, to replace an earlier wooden tower that had been built in 1822. It is shown here when the tower was entirely white, before the reddish-brown band was painted around the middle of the tower on May 15, 1899.
