Photo Caption:

The 1866 Southport Lighthouse in Kenosha, Wisconsin, also known as the Kenosha Lighthouse, as it appeared during the time that Louis Napoleon de Diemar was the lighthouse keeper. The lighthouse was discontinued in 1906. In 1940 the Coast Guard removed the lantern and abandoned the light station, however, it was later purchased by the City of Kenosha. On May 7, 1994 a replica lantern was installed atop the tower thanks to the efforts of the Kenosha County Historical Society. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
