The San Francisco Lightship LV-70 is shown docked at the Goat Island Depot [Yerba Buena] in San Francisco. Built at Wolff and Zwicker Ironworks in Portland, Oregon, the 112-foot lightship was placed into service on April 7, 1898. In addition to its six electric lights, it came equipped with two fog signals: a 12-inch Crosby steam chime and a half-ton bell, rung by hand. (U.S. Coast Guard photo)
