Jacquelyn Schneider is ready for school, c. 1934. Around this time, Al Capone was Jacquie’s shoe repairman. According to Jacquie’s daughter, Chellie, “Capone worked in the shoe repair shop so he could have a tool to defend himself since several other prisoners wanted to kill him. Jacquie recalled seeing his mistress visit him once a month. She knew it was his mistress because she was always colorfully dressed; whereas Capone’s wife was very dour and only visited once a year.” (Courtesy of Michelle Campbell Hamecs)
