In another nighttime view of the lighthouse, this post card is not only unique, but also quite valuable because it was sent from one keeper to another. It was mailed on November 19, 1909 and signed by its keeper, Thomas J. Murphy, to his friend William H.H. Lake, keeper of the Warwick Lighthouse in Warwick, Rhode Island. Murphy wrote on the card, “Watch Hill in action. Hope you and the Mrs. are well.” Thomas Murphy had previously served as the assistant lighthouse keeper at the Warwick Lighthouse before becoming the head keeper at Watch Hill in 1909. William H.H. Lake served as the head keeper at Warwick Lighthouse from 1908 to 1912. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
