Joseph Muise, who joined the U.S. Lighthouse Service on June 30, 1926, was the lighthouse keeper at Maine’s Burnt Island Lighthouse from 1936 to 1951. He served there during the 1939 transition from the Lighthouse Service to the Coast Guard.
