Photo Caption:

Axel Anderson frequently visited Desdemona Sands Lighthouse to make repairs and install new equipment. This rare photo of the now destroyed lighthouse shows the newly constructed shed sitting on a new pile platform attached to the side of the old one. Axel spent several days there setting up the automatic flashing light when the station was fully automated in 1935. (Courtesy United States Lighthouse Society)
