Newspaper articles reported how Elsie Littlefield’s “dearest delight” was to flip the switch in the engine house that lit the Statue whenever her father was on duty. Her brothers John and Carl would climb on high scaffolding whenever maintenance or repairs to the Statue were made. All “Liberty’s Children” appear to have enjoyed being raised there. (A.
