Rhode Island’s Hog Island Shoal Lighthouse was built in 1901 at the east passage of Narraganset Bay, to replace a lightship that had been previously stationed there. If you look closely, you will see a lighthouse keeper standing on the lower outer deck of the tower. In 2004 the lighthouse was declared excess property and, in May of 2006, it was sold at auction to Jon and Juli Chytka of South Dakota.
