Eva Faulkingham, wife of lighthouse keeper John Faulkingham, at Monhegan Island Lighthouse. Born on May 11, 1915 in Milbridge, Maine, she started working when she was 15 years old. After her divorce from John Faulkingham, she settled in Prospect Harbor, Maine and for 45 years she worked at a sardine factory that was just up the road from her home. Interestingly, she never had a driver’s license. When she was interviewed for her 100th birthday, she told a reporter how she had loved spending her retirement years looking for hidden treasures at tag sales and flea markets.
